The majestic peaks of the Jungfraujoch

The Jungfraujoch, also known as the ‘Top of Europe’, is an absolute highlight in the Bernese Oberland. From its summit at 3,454 metres above sea level, the Jungfraujoch offers an incomparable panoramic view of other surrounding peaks, glaciers and valleys. The Jungfrau Railway, one of the highest cogwheel railways in Europe, takes you comfortably to this unique viewing platform. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views, the Ice Palace and a year-round snow experience.

What does Sherlock Holmes have to do with the Bernese Oberland?
The Reichenbach Falls in the Bernese Oberland are one of the highest waterfalls in the Alps and an impressive natural attraction. The waterfall plunges spectacularly over rocks and several steps into the depths. The Reichenbach Falls are also famous from Arthur Conan Doyle's stories about Sherlock Holmes. In the story ‘The Final Problem’, there is a dramatic finale between Sherlock Holmes and his arch-enemy Professor Moriarty. For lovers of impressive natural spectacles, and of course for all Sherlock Holmes fans, the climb to the viewpoint is a must. You will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the waterfall and the vast landscape.
